Cartoon of the month: Robbery (?)

Are the Pro-Russian separatists in Eastern Ukraine robbers, stealing sovereignty from the central government? Or are they freedom fighters, fighting for their right to independence (or their right to join Russia)? As is often the case, history will very probably be written by the victors.

The cartoon was drawn by Gatis Sluka, a cartoonist from Latvia. He has been drawing cartoons at the newspaper Latvijas Avize since 1998 and he is also working as illustrator and freelance artist for traditional and digital media outlets. In 2005 he received a Master’s degree in graphic fine art at the Art Academy of Latvia.
