“Pakistan is on a suicidal course”

The Pakistani region bordering Afghanistan is increasingly under Taliban control. The U.S. carry out drone attacks from Afghanistan on suspected Taliban leaders. Following the successful operation against the Taliban in the Swat Valley, the Pakistani army continued the operations against the Taliban in South Waziristan in mid June. But not all Pakistani politicians consider this strategy a success. Pakistani opposition figure and cricketing legend Imran Khan, the leader of the political party known as the Movement for Justice has been an outspoken critic of both US drone attacks as well as the Pakistani military’s offensive against the Taliban. “Democracy Now” has published an interview with Imran Khan at the end of June. This interview shows the operations within Pakistan from a slightly different angle.
